Pre-Session Tech Check
Before your notarisation session, we recommend running a quick camera and microphone test. This takes about two minutes and helps you avoid delays on the day.
You do not need to be logged in to run the test.
How to access the test
Log in to your dashboard and go to Sessions → [Your Session] → Prepare for Session, then click Test your camera & mic. You will also find the same link in your booking confirmation email and your session reminder email.
Running the test
Click Start A/V test. The page will check four things automatically:
| Check | What it tests |
|---|---|
| Browser compatibility | Whether your browser fully supports video calls |
| Secure connection | Whether the page is served over HTTPS (required for camera access) |
| Camera access | Whether your camera is available and permitted |
| Microphone access | Whether your microphone is available and permitted |
Each item shows a green tick (pass), amber warning, or red cross (fail).
If all checks pass
A live camera preview appears alongside a microphone level bar — speak normally and you should see the bars move. You can also select your preferred camera, microphone, and speaker from the dropdown menus that appear.
Use the Test speaker button to play a short sound — if you hear three short tones, your speaker is working correctly.
If a check fails
The page shows step-by-step instructions. The most common issue is a blocked camera or microphone.
My camera or microphone is blocked
This usually happens because the browser has been set to deny access. Here is how to fix it:
On a computer (Chrome or Edge)
- Look at the address bar at the top of your browser. You will see a camera icon or a lock icon on the left side.
- Click it.
- Find Camera and Microphone and change both to Allow.
- Refresh the page and run the test again.
On a computer (Firefox)
- Click the camera icon in the address bar.
- Click the X next to the blocked permissions to clear them.
- Refresh the page — the browser will ask for permission again. Click Allow.
On a phone or tablet
- Go to your phone's Settings.
- Find your browser app (e.g. Chrome, Safari).
- Tap Permissions and make sure Camera and Microphone are enabled.
- Return to the browser and refresh the test page.
Tips for a good session
- Use a wired internet connection if possible. If on Wi-Fi, sit close to your router.
- Use a quiet, well-lit space. Make sure your face is clearly visible — not backlit by a window behind you.
- Close other apps that use the camera (e.g. Zoom, Teams) before joining.
- Use headphones if other people are nearby — this prevents echo.
- Have your photo ID ready before joining. The notary will ask you to hold it up to the camera.
- Have your documents ready. If you are uploading documents on the day, do this before the session starts — not during.
- On a phone? The platform works on mobile browsers. For signing, landscape orientation gives you more space on the screen.
Recommended browsers
| Browser | Support level |
|---|---|
| Google Chrome (desktop or Android) | ✅ Fully supported — recommended |
| Microsoft Edge | ✅ Fully supported |
| Mozilla Firefox | ✅ Fully supported |
| Safari 14+ (Mac or iPhone) | ✅ Supported |
| Older browsers (Internet Explorer, Opera Mini) | ❌ Not supported |
Safari on iPhone
Safari on iPhone supports video calls but does not support screen sharing. This is a browser limitation — you can still participate fully in your session.
