Booking a Session

Before you book

  • Have your document(s) ready — PDF format is recommended; JPEG and PNG are also accepted
  • Check that you have a working camera and microphone for the video session
  • Review the notary's profile to confirm they handle your document type and are in your preferred location

You do not need to complete identity verification before booking, though we recommend it to avoid delays when joining the session.

Step 1 — Find a notary

  1. Click Find a Notary from your dashboard or the homepage.
  2. Use the filters: document type, state, language, or availability.
  3. Click a notary's name to view their full profile, client ratings, fees per document type, and available calendar slots.

Not sure which notary or document type to choose?

The AI virtual assistant (chat icon, bottom-right of the page) can help — ask it questions like "What is the difference between an affidavit and a statutory declaration?" or "Do I need a notary in my state?" before you book.

Step 2 — Choose a time slot

  1. On the notary's profile, click an available date and time.
  2. The booking form will open.

Step 3 — Upload your documents

  1. Click Add Document and select your file (PDF, JPEG, or PNG).
  2. Repeat for each additional document if you have more than one.
  3. For each document, select the document type from the dropdown (e.g. Affidavit, Deed of Assignment, Power of Attorney).
  4. For document types priced per page, enter the page count — the fee updates live.

Document page limit

The platform accepts documents of up to 150 pages per file. Documents exceeding this limit are rejected at upload and you will need to split them before re-uploading. Documents over 50 pages are accepted but will display a large-document notice — the notary is informed and may contact you to discuss the scope.

Live fee estimate

The total fee (notarisation fee + service charge + VAT) updates in real time as you add documents and select types. You will see the full breakdown before confirming.

Step 4 — Review and accept terms

  • Review the fee breakdown carefully.
  • If the notary has set booking terms, read and accept them before proceeding.
  • The statutory minimum fee is ₦5,000 per document per the Notary Public Act 2023.

Step 5 — Pay

  1. Click Confirm & Pay.
  2. You will be taken to the Paystack checkout page.
  3. Complete payment by card or bank transfer.

You have 30 minutes to complete payment

Once you click Confirm & Pay, your booking slot is held for 30 minutes. If payment is not completed within that window — including any delays from bank OTP prompts, network drops, or re-attempting a failed card — the booking is automatically cancelled and the slot is released back to other clients.

If this happens, you will receive a cancellation email and you can simply rebook the same notary (or another) on a new slot. No charge is made for a booking cancelled due to payment timeout.

To avoid timeout issues:

  • Have your card details ready before clicking Confirm & Pay.
  • If your bank sends an OTP, action it immediately — do not leave the Paystack page.
  • On a slow connection, use a card transfer rather than bank transfer (bank transfers can take longer to confirm).
  1. On successful payment, you will receive a booking confirmation email with:
    • Session date and time
    • Notary name and contact
    • A link to join the session
    • A "Test your camera & mic" link — use this at least 15 minutes before the session to confirm your device is ready. See Pre-Session Tech Check.

Do the tech check early

Camera and microphone problems are the most common cause of session delays. Running the check the day before takes two minutes and means you can fix any issues without time pressure.

Rescheduling or cancelling

  • Reschedule: Go to Dashboard → Appointments → [Your Booking] → Reschedule. Select a new available slot. The notary will be notified.
  • Cancel: Go to Dashboard → Appointments → [Your Booking] → Cancel. Your refund eligibility is shown before you confirm. Cancellations trigger an automatic refund via Paystack.

Cancellation & refund policy

The service charge and VAT are always non-refundable — they cover platform access and are retained regardless of when you cancel. The notarisation fee refund depends on how far in advance you cancel:

When you cancelNotarisation fee refunded to you
More than 6 hours before the session100% — full refund
Within 6 hours of the session70% — 20% goes to the notary as compensation for their reserved time; 10% is retained by the platform

The exact amounts in naira are displayed on the cancellation confirmation screen before you confirm, so there are no surprises.

Refunds are processed via Paystack and typically appear in your account within 5–10 business days.

You will receive a reminder email approximately 7 hours before your session notifying you that the free cancellation window is about to close.

Cancel early to avoid the penalty

If you no longer need the session, cancel as soon as possible. Cancelling more than 6 hours before the session costs you nothing on the notarisation fee.
