Notifications

NotariseIt tells you what is happening through two channels: the in-app notification centre, and email.

The notification centre

The bell icon in the top bar. It carries a count when you have unread items, and opens a list of everything recent.

You are notified when:

  • A booking is confirmed
  • A session is about to start, and when your notary opens the room
  • Your documents have been notarised
  • A booking is cancelled, by you or your notary
  • A refund is issued
  • Something needs your attention before a session — an unverified witness, or outstanding identity verification

Mark all as read clears the count without opening each one.

Email

Email reminders are sent automatically and cannot be turned off — they are how we make sure you do not miss a session you have paid for.

See Booking a Session for the full reminder schedule.

You will also receive email for:

  • Booking confirmation, with your fee breakdown and Paystack reference
  • Cancellation, with the refund detail
  • Notarisation complete, with links to your documents and certificate
  • Identity verification outcomes
  • Account and security events — password changes, email changes, sign-in from a new device

Other channels

Everything above arrives by email, and email is the only channel currently sending. WhatsApp, SMS and automated voice-call reminders are built into the platform but are not yet switched on. This page will be updated when they are — until then, treat the email address on your account as the only way the platform can reach you.

There is no setting for reminders, by design: they exist to stop you losing money on a session you have already paid for, so the platform sends them rather than leaving it to a preference you might have switched off months earlier. Session Reminders in Profile Settings is a notary setting, not a client one.

When the other channels launch

WhatsApp will be available on every plan. SMS and automated voice calls are part of a notary's practice subscription and will go to the notary alone, so that a notary is reachable when a client is waiting — a client will not receive either on any plan.

Keeping your address current

Notifications go to the email on your account. If you change it, use Profile Settings → Change Email Address — the change is confirmed on both the old and new addresses before it takes effect.
