Notarisation Types
Every document you upload is assigned a notarisation type. It is required, and it is what prices the notarial act — so it is worth choosing accurately.
Where you choose it
At upload, in the second step of the upload dialog, and again in the booking wizard if a document has not been typed yet. The booking cannot proceed until every selected document has one.
Why it matters
The type does two things:
- It sets the fee. Each type carries a price — your notary's own, or the platform default where they have not set one.
- It records what was notarised. The type appears in the notarial record and on the certificate, so it should describe the document honestly.
How types are priced

The ₦5,000 statutory minimum applies to the total for each document, not to a per-page rate. So a per-page rate below ₦5,000 is normal and lawful — a four-page document at ₦3,000 a page comes to ₦12,000, well above the floor. A single-page document at that rate works out at ₦3,000, so it is charged at ₦5,000 instead.
When that happens the breakdown says so, rather than silently showing a different number than the rate implies.
Your document is not on the list
Choose General Document, in the General Documents category. It is the catch-all, priced at the statutory minimum unless your notary has set their own fee for general work.
Only reach for it when nothing else fits. Picking the type that genuinely describes your document gets you the right price and a more accurate record.
Each document is charged separately
Two affidavits in one session are two notarial acts. They cost twice one affidavit, even though they share a type. The Second Schedule charges for each document in a session, not for the session.
Changing a type
You can change a document's type any time before you pay. After payment the type is part of the booking; cancel and rebook if it is wrong.
